Kinly ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application and services.
Short version: Kinly is built to help you remember people - not to collect data. We intentionally collect the bare minimum needed to make the app work, and your relationship data stays private to you.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Choose to Provide
Kinly does not access your phone’s contacts, address book, or call history. The app is intentionally designed to collect as little personal data as possible.
- Contact names only - We store names so you can remember who matters to you. We do not require phone numbers, email addresses, or social profiles.
- Notes and reminders you create about your relationships
- Reminder preferences (how often you want to stay in touch)
- Account information (email and authentication details) used solely to create and secure your account and allow you to sign in - not for marketing or advertising
We do not scan your contacts, upload your address book, or access information without your permission.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
To keep Kinly reliable and improve the app experience, we collect a small amount of technical information automatically.
- Basic device information (such as device type and operating system) so the app runs correctly
- Anonymous usage data via Firebase Analytics, which helps us understand which features are useful and which need improvement
- Product analytics via PostHog to understand how features are used and improve the experience. Any session replay is configured to mask sensitive content by default
- Crash and error reports via Sentry, used only to fix bugs and improve stability
This data is used for app improvement only and is never sold or used for advertising.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain our services
- To send you reminders and notifications
- To sync your data across devices (Pro users)
- To improve our app and develop new features (using anonymized analytics)
- To provide customer support
4. Data Security
We implement appropriate technical and organizational security measures to protect your personal information. Your data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard encryption protocols (AES-256 and TLS 1.3).
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:
- With your explicit consent
- To comply with legal obligations
- To protect our rights and safety
- With service providers who assist in operating our app (under strict confidentiality agreements)
We do not use your data for advertising, profiling, or selling to third parties.

- Request correction of inaccurate data
Analytics control: You can turn off in-app analytics at any time in settings. We respect that choice, and the app will continue to work normally.

We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you delete your account, we permanently delete all associated data within 30 days.
8. Children's Privacy
Our services are not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
